Meet
the Staff

Lucien Freeman
Lucien Freeman joined the
Radical Support team in August 2007 as a network operations
center engineer, responsible for the monitoring of data
back-ups. Earlier this year, Lucien was promoted to StaffCare
engineer, where he works onsite full-time at a client's office.
Lucien has 10 years of experience in the IT industry,
specializing in servers, back-ups and desktop administration. He
is continually training and learning new technologies to better
support Radical Support's clients.
Born and raised in California,
Lucien enjoys sci-fi and fantasy conventions. His musical
background and disc-jockey skills are very in demand in Atlanta
clubs. Most people are surprised to learn that Lucien speaks
conversational Japanese.
What would Lucien do if he won
the lottery? Build a datacenter in his Atlanta home and build a
summer house in Japan!

Message from the President
Fall is in the air
I
have always loved the fall. Cool crisp air, campfires, leaves
changing colors, long-sleeve shirts, hiking boots, kids back to
school, hot chili and college football. In general, fall is not
a time that most people consider doing hard work, making huge
changes or starting new ventures. To most folks, it's that time
of year to just sit back, relax and enjoy the things they love.
However, this fall has
been a time of new beginnings and major initiatives at Radical
Support. Many of these new initiatives have a direct impact on
the experience of our customers. For instance, we are continuing
to roll out our Managed Virus Protection (MVP) service, which is
saving our clients as much as 20% and helping them keep cash in
the bank! See what else might positively impact you . . .

USB Set Free
by Amanda Kooser
reprinted with permission from the Microsoft Small Business
Center
Everything's
doing it: plugging into a USB port. Now you can do it
wirelessly--connect USB hardware to your PC, that is--with
Belkin's Cable-Free USB Hub. This untethered option for your
USB hardware provides a glimpse into the future of the
ubiquitous standard.
We tested the
small, $200 gadget, which uses UWB technology to achieve a
practical throughput of 30Mbps to 45Mbps. Its chief benefit
is to let you relocate your USB peripherals without cables.
It's also a way to add a quartet of USB ports to a PC that's
maxed out.

No Room for Risk

Don't Stop fortifying against risk
Four
ways to mitigate risk in a tough economy
Every business
deals with risk. But medium-sized businesses, with smaller
IT staff and tighter operating budgets are often more
exposed to risk than larger companies. This reality is never
more evident than in a down economy: When the repercussions
of a business disruption are as grave as they are, how do
you insulate your business from risk?
"For mid-sized
businesses, the financial impact of business disruptions is
tremendous," said Anil Miglani, senior vice president,
AMI-Partners. "We estimate that through security breaches
and data loss alone, medium-sized businesses worldwide lost
approximately US$4.7 billion in 2008."
According to
strategy consulting firm AMI-Partners, in 2008 medium-sized
businesses worldwide lost approximately US$4.7 billion due
to security breaches and loss of data.
However, taking
the right precautions with your IT infrastructure can help
you steer clear of danger.
Here are four steps you can take
to mitigate risks to your revenue, your reputation, and your
investment - all the things that keep you awake at night as
you wait for this storm to pass.
